General information

You can visit Husky Park every day year round, and if the weather allows, also take a ride with a sled or summer carriage. There is an entrance fee to the park.

Please note that we always drive with full sleds (3-5 persons/sled) when there is a queue to husky rides.

The safari prices include guide services with driving and safety instructions. Children under 15 years old sit in the guide’s sled during the safari. Children over 15 years old can drive their own husky team if the guide considers it possible. Husky Park keeps the right to decide on arrangements for children according to weather conditions and children’s size and age.

For small children we recommend only short husky safaris. Rides with our summer carriage are not recommended for children under the age of 4.

If you want to use your photos to any commercial purpose, please agree about it with our staff before you leave the park.

30 €/adult, 15 €/child (Jenga, ca. 500 m), 40 €/adult, 20 €/child (Autumn Thrill, ca. 1 km)

Arctic Circle Crossing Ceremony

Crossing the magical line of Arctic Circle has been considered a great achievement already decades ago. Nowadays, it’s not only possible to cross the line but to make the experience even more memorable with a genuine Arctic Circle Crossing Ceremony.

The ceremony takes place in kammi, an old Lappish building in Husky Park, where the participants sit around the fire, enjoying a Shaman’s drink, which is a blend of secret, but very Finnish ingredients. The Lapp shaman, who also tells stories about Lapland, arranges the ceremony. Atmosphere of the ceremony is very Lappish and exotic. As a proof, as well as a concrete memory of the Arctic Circle Crossing Ceremony, every participant receives the original Arctic Circle Crossing Certificate.

Note! Requires reservation in advance!

Prices
350 €/group (max 20 persons), 400 €/group (21-50 persons) + 4 €/certificate

NATURE TRAILS

Let’s go hiking in the sceneries of Vikaköngäs and Vaattunki! We can also take huskies with us if you like. The prices include pick-up and return to Rovaniemi. There are three different trails to choose from, 4 km, 7 km and 10 km. Just choose the one you like the most! 🙂

Vaattunkivaara Nature Trail, 4 km

The themes of this Vaattunkivaara Nature Trail are the wilderness and its fauna in Northern Ostrobothnia. The track passes through the rocky terrain of Vaattunkivaara Hill with its fell-top pines, the most senior of which are over 450 years old. This nature trail is classified as medium demand level. The track ascends some 80 metres from the starting point to the top of Vaattunkivaara Hill. At the top of the hill, there is an observation tower which affords a beautiful panorama of the landscape. The summit of the hill is rocky and may be slippery when wet. Areas with the softest ground have duckboards and, during the driest season, you do not necessarily need to wear rubber boots. The trail is stony in parts, and therefore boots that support the ankles are advisable.

Along the latter part of the trail we’ll stop at a cosy lean-to-shelter called Kaltio nestled into the pine forest to grill sausages and drink some juice with a cookie. There is also a spring close to the shelter.

Total duration ca. 3-4 h

Prices
300 e/person, a husky to take along from Husky Park 100 e/dog

Mire Trail, 7 km

The Mire Trail features Vianaapa’s versitile mire nature. There are duckboards along most of this circular trail. Its starting and finishing point is at the Karhukumpu lean-to-shelter. The trail crosses open bogs as well as pine and spruce mires and at times enters forest islets. The Mire Trail presents various types of northern marshes and their flora and fauna. Its demand level is easy. In the spring, when the snow melts, the Säynätoja Stream floods the trail, making it impossible to go round it.

In the halfway of the trail we’ll stop to take a rest at the Säynätoja lean-to-shelter and will eat filling sandwiches with black pot campfire coffee. There is also a bird-watching tower along the route.

Total duration ca. 4-5,5 h

Prices
400 e/person, a husky to take along from Husky Park 100 e/dog

Vikaköngäs – Vaattunkiköngäs Trail, 10 km

This well-equipped hiking trail features two of the most magnificent rapids of River Raudanjoki, the Vikaköngäs and Vaattunkiköngäs. When setting out from Vikaköngäs, the trail first crosses over Vaattunkivaara Hill and then follows the southern bank of the River Raudanjoki and leads through the exotic Vianaapa bogs to the beautiful Könkäänsaaret Islands. The nature on these islands is exceptionally lush and versatile. The trail is classified as medium demand level. A substantial part of this track has duckboards and so it is easy to travel. Climbing to the top of the Vaattunkivaara Hill is the most demanding part of the trail. Because the altitude difference amounts to 80 m altogether, you have to be in fairly good shape to climb it. Also, the route over Vaattunkivaara Hill is stony in places and may be slippery when wet. As the snow melts in the spring, the River Raudanjoki may flood the Vikaköngäs – Vaattunkiköngäs Trail by the Vaattunkilampi Pond.

We’ll stop to eat at the Vaattunkilampi Pond lean-to-shelter in the halfway of the route. Several meal choices, please ask for more information!

Beautiful sights along the route include both the rapids, Vaattunkivaara Hill, Vaattunkilampi Pond, the Vianaapa mire area and the Könkäänsaaret Islands.

Total duration ca. 5,5-8 h
