The cold days of mid-winter

By | Uncategorized

Hrrr… It’s probably the coldest time of the winter. The thermometer shows -25 degrees, which means a pretty cold ride for us humans. Huskies are rather enjoying, this is the best time ever for them! The weather is refreshing, and not even faster running feels hot and uncomfortable. 🙂 The sceneries are breath-taking, but if it still gets colder, we have to close the longest routes because of the risk of frostbites. The shorter routes will, however, be open until -30 degrees. Luckily, here on the Arctic Circle the temperatures are usually a bit warmer than for example in the city center, so please drop by to see how it looks like, or call us in the office, so we’ll see what we can do! 🙂

Heading to spring!

The highest season has calmed down, and also the dogs have been able to keep some days off. Even the sun is staying in the sky for a while. On the busiest days we have only been able to offer our customers the shortest rides, Jenga and possibly Tiny Quarter. This way we have been trying to guarantee at least some ride for everyone who wants, and also to take care of the dogs’ wellbeing. However, now we are able to offer also Enjoying the Feeling Five to all our customers, except during some occasional crowded hours. 🙂

Our gates are still open daily at 10-16, but if you want to have a ride, please come before 15.00! Sometimes the late afternoons are quiet, and if the dogs can’t run and have to just stand and wait in harnesses a long time, they become restless and start to argue with other dogs – just like teenagers. 😉 Therefore we may unharness the dogs a little before closing, save their nerves and let them go wait for dinner and rest in their fences with their friends. 🙂

The weather is getting colder and the puppies are growing older

Here in Rovaniemi the temperature is -10 °C and in the forecasts promise that it will get even colder! ❄ All the workers and dogs have waited this after the long period of zero temperatures. Our dogs really enjoy the cold, and are wishing for even colder weathers! They really like when the temperature drops to -20 °C, then our routes are in good condition and also our dogs are full of energy! 😊 We are trying to open also the 2 km route as soon as possible, so let’s hope that this temperature stays for a while so that the customers can join also a little bit longer rides!

Our puppies have opened their eyes and are now exploring the new and wonderful world. As soon as the puppies get more strength in their paws then they are able to get themselves out of their house and down the stairs. Gerda is really looking after her daughters and she is really proven to be a good mother for her first puppies. <3 One of the puppies looks just like Gerda and the other two look just like their father. 😊
